IT has been a busy few weeks for the Old School House Gallery and its members.
We celebrated the Queens Baton Relay along with the rest of the Redland’s Community, opening early for our patrons.
Gallery buildings were wrapped in Australian flags and everyone cheered on the passing parade, full of pride. It was exciting to be a part of the celebrations, with the baton passing right by.
Thanks to the work of our volunteer members, the organisation also celebrated the completion of our storage shed.
President Malissa took the opportunity to publicly thank everyone during her speech at the “POP” Exhibition opening.
More than 50 people enjoyed the evening and were amazed at the originality and sophistication of the work on display. The exhibition continues until Sunday, April 29, and should not be missed.
The May exhibition titled Kaleidoscope features work from Jenny McNamara-Furlong, Malissa J and one of our newest members, Jess King. Guest artist Helen Newlove has also been invited to display her beautiful miniature mosaic glass artwork. This multifaceted and colourful combination of artwork will provide an insight into the diverse creative processes and approaches of these artists.
Jess and Jenny both work with vibrant colour, layering mixed media to create texture and depth, and Malissa will be displaying her new copper and silver jewellery range. The opening is on Saturday, May 5 at 5.30pm. The exhibition is on until May 27.
