The Redland Sinfonia and Young Conservatorium string orchestras will join with students in the Ormiston College string program in presenting a Big String Day out, being held at the school on June 3.
The students can participate in a series of workshops with a concert to be held at Lingo Lin theatre from 6pm. Admission is free and it is open to the community.
Repertoire includes Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the orchestra will be joined by pianist Carson Dron to play the Beethoven Emporer piano concerto.
Special guest are conductors Nigel Bardsley, Graeme Denniss and Jonathan Zorzelto.
Head of Music at Ormiston College Emma Dron said the Big String Day Out was a celebration of string music making.
“We are excited to partner with the Open Conservatorium and the Redland Sinfonia for what is sure to be an epic showcase of high quality music making,” she said.
