The Redland branch of the Queensland Justices Association (QJA) is conducting a course for people interested in qualifying as a Commissioner for Declarations or a Justice of the Peace (qualified).
The course will be conducted over two Saturdays for Commissioner for Declarations and three Saturdays for a Justice of the Peace (qualified) starting on May 12 at Capalaba College senior campus.
Cost of the courses are $280 (declarations) and $360 (JP) which includes a complimentary 12-month membership of the association and learning materials on USB. The course fees do not cover the application fees payable to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General for apppointment.
Applicants must be Australian citizens, aged over 18, of good character and registered on the State electoral roll. They must also not be disqualified from appointment as per the requirements at qia.com.au/disqualification-provisions
The QJA is the peak body that has represented Justices of the Peace and Commissioners for Declarations in Queensland since 1918 and is a registered training organization providing a statewide service and training programs for prospective J.P.'s.
