DRONE footage showing sharks in a feeding frenzy off North Stradbroke Island has been captured by a Point Lookout resident.
Barry Miall said he shot the footage from his drone on Tuesday after spotting tightly packed baitballs the previous day.
Mr Miall, a Straddie resident for 12 years, said he saw seagulls bomb diving in the ocean from Adder Rock on Monday morning.
“I thought I would see it with the drone so I sent it up and that’s when I got the baitball pictures,” he said.
At the time people were on the beach and in the water trying to catch the fish.
Returning at sunset on Monday, Mr Miall could see larger fish and knew that sharks would soon be on the hunt.
“Once the bait fish arrive you know the tailor and tuna will arrive and then sharks,” he said.
“On Tuesday morning the sharks were among other fish and many of the bait fish had disappeared.
“The sharks must have had a good feed overnight.”
Mr Miall said surfers were catching waves about 200 metres from the sharks.
