A fund raising morning tea will be held to support mothers and volunteers at Sylvan Woods aged care facility, Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale from 10am to 12.30pm on Wednesday, May 9.
Sylvan Woods’ Julie Howells said so many people went above and beyond to ensure that the facility’s older residents were included in the community as much as possible.
“Residents, family, staff and volunteers have been working hard making mother’s day cards, serviette holders, table runners and other knick knacks to sell on the stall,” Ms Howells said.
There will be a white elephant stall from 10am.
The facility will also host a Mother’s day pancake morning tea for residents and their families from 10.30am.
Entertainment will be provided by the Birkdale South state school choir from 10.30am and a two man band performing from 11am to noon.
“We would like to extend this invitation out to the community,” Ms Howells said said.
A donation of $5 is asked for the morning tea. Funds will support Humming Bird House.
