Lotus driver Paul Stokell of Wellington Point is committed to run the entire Australian tarmac rally championship with four rounds of competition in 2018.
Stokell has already competed in the Targa North West (February 17/18) and Targa Tasmaniua (April 16-21) and will compete in Targa Great Barrier Reef from August 31 to September 2 and Targa High Country from November 9 to 11. Stokell won the north west GT2 and finished second overall and gained a third in GT2 and fourth outright in Tasmania.
“In the Lotus, up against the might of Dodge Viper and Porsche GT3RS, it was a giant killing performance and leaves us firmly at the top of the points table in GT2 and second in the outright championship as we get ready for Cairns,” he said.
He said he was running the rounds in a Lotux Exige, driving with a new navigator Erin Kelly. He is supported by Wallace Bishop and Loyal watches.
“This is the first year for many years that it has been given Australian Championship status meaning it holds the same weight as the V8 Supercars Championship,” he said.
