THE Redlands will be home to its very own fun run with an inaugural event at Raby Bay in August.
Organised by the Bayside Runners and Walkers, the Redlands Coast Fun Run will include a 10 kilometre and a 5 kilometre event.
They will start at the Raby Bay marina and head out to the Raby Bay foreshore, making the most of the coastline views.
There will also be a 1 kilometre event for children aged 12 years and under.
All events will be timed and finishers will receive a medal.
Bayside Runners and Walkers decided to hold the event after consulting with running groups, councillors and council on where best to hold a run.
An event spokeswoman said Cleveland was chosen for the run as it was central and accessible for participants.
“Running is on the increase with four local parkruns in the Redlands and numerous running groups are active throughout the area,” she said.
”The name Redlands Coast was chosen to reflect our large coastline and the dotted running man and colours of the logo represents the many islands and coastal colours that make up Redland city and the Moreton Bay Marine Park.
The Redlands Coast Fun Run will be held on Sunday, August 12.
There is a discounted early bird entry offer until May 31 and a team discount.
The school with the largest number of teams entered will win $500.
There will be a kids fun zone, entertainment on the course and random fun prizes to win during the event.
Sponsors include Walker Corporation, Victoria Point Branch of the Bendigo Bank, My Foot Dr Cleveland and Bay FM.
