SOME teenagers dream of becoming rock stars or celebrities.
But then there’s Kate Sturgess.
The former Redlands girl decided in high school who her idols were – old men, who spent their days lovingly tending to their vineyards.
Rather than wait for retirement to live out these dreams, Kate pursued wine making as a career.

The seasoned vintner will host a night of Brokenwood wines paired with food, at The Grand View Hotel on Wednesday, May 16 from 6.30pm.
Rose, semillon, shiraz and pinot noir are all included on the menu, which includes canapes and a three course meal.
Tickets are $85 for members and $95 for non-members.
Kate completed a Bachelor in Viticulture and Oenology in 2011 after graduating Moreton Bay College, before helping out at vineyards across Australia and overseas.
She has worked at New South Wales’ Brokenwood Wines for the past three years.
