THE Redland Rhapsody Chorus will arrive at Hobart on Thursday afternoon for four days of singing and sisterhood at the Sweet Adelines Convention and Regional Contest.
The chorus is taking 44 members after a three year absence from the event.
They are under the lead of novice director and former member Louise Brannon.
“The work that goes into a competition like this is phenomenal,” Brannon said.
“Every member is expected to put in a few hours a week of practice.
“We rehearse every week at Alexandra Hills and have had numerous additional weekend rehearsals with an experienced international coach.”
Brannon said sound was key to medal-winning performances but one of the categories judged was showmanship, something the chorus was renowned for.
“There are costumes, false eyelashes, shoes that pinch and even shape wear!”
More than 20 members have been to the annual convention before.
“With 17 members joining over the last year, there are lots of first timers in for a wonderful experience.”
