What started as an end of year short film project has grown into a web series by Sarah Stephenson of Birkdale based film production company, Black Cat Film Productions.
Entitled Mia Morris Diary, it is a contemporary re-telling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
As producer/director Ms Stephenson said she was inspired to create the series by Carmilla, Lizzie Bennet Diaries, Notes by Christine and Cate Morland Chronicles.
“When I was younger I was fascinated with the vampire movies made by Universal Studios and Hammer films. More recently I have been writing my own vampire stories and this has become the inspiration for this Web Series,” Ms Stephenson said.
The series follows a college student Mia Morris (played by Skye Fitzpatrick) and her friends Lucy Westwood, (Sharee Muller) Drake Alucard, (Thomas Bishop) John Stuarts, (Timothy Clark) Arthur Holmwood (Rafferty Parer) and Quinn ( Isis Calje) who face supernatural and evil forces at university where a lot of unexplained attacks are taking place.
It’s up to Mia and her friends to solve the mystery behind these attacks.
Ms Stephenson said Its inception as a short film project quickly expanded to incorporate new episodes and new storylines.
“We hope to have the project completed by October. We halfway through filming our web series here.
The project has been supported by Divinity Jewellery designer Shae Mandell, Luse Exclusive Styles fashion designer Vaeluaga Luse Luli and Armoury-Terrain prop designer Wulfure Daelman.
The web series will be globally released on YouTube and Vimeo.
