CAPALABA MP Don Brown says it could be time to replace artwork referred to as the scary baby faces mural along Moreton Bay Road, Capalaba.
Mr Brown said with council rebranding the area as Redlands Coast it could be time to replace the 20-year-old artwork.
“I think we need to showcase, along with this change to our brand to Redlands Coast, everything that’s beautiful about our coast,” he said.
“The artwork along Moreton Bay Road Capalaba is the first thing that people see when they are entering the Redlands Coast.
“It is important that this statement reflects everything that the area has to offer.”
Mr Brown said it would be nicer to have wildlife such as koalas, turtles, dugongs and whales painted on the wall than the existing scary baby faces.
“After seeing local artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins showcase Quandamooka art to the world at the Commonwealth Games I think we should use this opportunity to display our fantastic Indigenous art and artists locally as well.
Mr Brown said he would ask residents for opinions and had started to discuss options with state government ministers and mayor Karen Williams.
