A 31-YEAR-OLD man who is accused of chasing another man and hurting him near the Capalaba bus interchange will appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said it would be alleged the victim, a 28-year-old man, was walking to the interchange on Redland Bay Road when he was approached by a man and woman who became aggressive.
“The man attempted to flee from the pair however was allegedly pursued until he tripped over,” the spokesperson said.
“The 28-year-old man was then allegedly assaulted, receiving a broken jaw as a result.”
The spokesperson said the 31-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday after police appealed for information from witnesses.
He has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence and possessing utensils or pipes.
The spokesperson said the victim had undergone reconstructive surgery after the incident.
