Swing Time Binary Music Club has introduced a new ensemble playing dixieland music.
The group draws on the inspirations of Dutch Swing College band, Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk, Chris Barber, Eddie Condon, Red Nichols and Louis Armstrong.
The Swing Time Stompers includes John Wickham on soprano saxophone, Graham Martin on trombone, Viv Layzelle on clarinet, Karen Henderson on piano, Ian Wells on banjo, Nik Aleksiev on bass, Kapiki Te Awe on drums and vocals under the baton of Graham Martin.
Repertoire includes Hello Dolly, Midnight in Moscow, Sweet Georgia Brown, At Sundown and Heartaches.
The club meets on the third Sunday of each month at the Binary Music studio, Cleveland Plaza, 48 Bloomfield Street, at 1pm with the band playing from 1.45pm. Entry is $7. Inquiries to 38213585
