BOWMAN MP Andrew Laming has reportedly been lambasted in an email from senior LNP branch members for behaviour the writers say would make it difficult to get public support for him at the next election.
An article in The Courier Mail says the email was signed by three executive members, FDC chair Shaun Edwards, treasurer Paul Field and secretary Suzie Foster.
The letter has caused ructions within the branch ahead of the federal divisional council’s general meeting on Saturday.
An LNP spokesman said party rules dictated that members could not talk about internal LNP matters.
He did not know whether the three had been suspended from the party.
“The people who spoke out will be subject to the party rules the same as everyone else,” he said.
“There is an internal disciplinary process. We consistently apply the same rules across the party.”
Paul Branagan, who is understood to be challenging Mr Laming for preselection, was on the executive but said he had recused himself for the past couple of months.
Mr Branagan said he had not nominated for an executive position ahead of Saturday’s meeting.
Mr Laming said he could not respond as it was against the LNP rules to comment on preselection.
The preselection is likely to take place in August.
In a social media post, Mr Laming said he would be “off-line tidying up a couple of things” and back again on Saturday at 4pm.
