LOCALS can meet Capalaba police officers at Birkdale Fair Shopping Centre so they can put a face to the names and discuss any community concerns over a cup of coffee.
The Coffee with a Cop event will be held at Bean Street Cafe on Friday from 9.30am to 11.30am to answer any questions from traffic and hooning to scam email issues.
Crime Stoppers and Volunteers in Policing will also be in attendance with brochures to hand out information, including how to report crimes.
Capalaba Police Beat’s Constable Reece Jarman said the Coffee with a Cop was a successful event, which has seen about 60 people attend a coffee catch up in the past.
“It’s a chance to meet local police officers, break down barriers between community and police officers and to build a positive rapport,” he said.
“Everyone is fairly relaxed and approachable and the morning usually has a real focus on community members.”
Constable Jarman said it was very important to create an approachable environment where the public could express their concerns.
“The community is ultimately the people we serve and with the success of the event, there have been many investigations that have been instigated purely because of Coffee with a Cop in the past,” he said.
Constable Jarman urged members of the community to join officers for a coffee and a chat.
