Melbourne-based bluegrass duo, The Colvin Brothers is escaping the Victorian winter and looking forward to a warm reception with Folk Redlands aat Indigiscapes, Runnymede Road, Capalaba from 3pm to 4pm on July 15.
Colin Weight (guitar, vocals) and Vinny Russell (mandolin, vocals), came together through a mutual love for finger picking bluegrass, country and old time influences. They have been active in the Victorian and national folk and bluegrass circuits, largely through their respective bands Nine Mile Creek and The Knott Family Band.
Performances as a duo draw from a broad span of original and traditional material, including Bill Monroe and The Everly Brothers, Hot Rize and Mandolin Orange. The duo plays with melodic picking, vocal harmonies and a joyful energy.
Their show will be preceded by a blackboard session from 1pm to 3pm, allowing ample time for walk-in performers to take the stage.
Entry is free. Folk Redlands is a not for profit club with a focus on bringing people together through music. Regular events are held on the third Sunday of the month. More on folkredlands.org
