A SEARCH-and-rescue exercise on Straddie has put emergency services to the test.
First responders were tasked with finding and helping two stranded hang-gliders for the exercise on Saturday.
There were no casualties, with dummies used instead.
Drones were sent out by Surf Life Saving Queensland to help with land and sea searches, with State Emergency Services, firefighters and QYAC rangers also dispatched to look.
Surf life savers also manned jet skis to help find the two mannequins.
One was perched at Adder Rock, requiring a vertical rescue by firefighters and sea transport to shore for paramedic help.
The other dummy was at Home Beach, caught in shrub. It was carefully lifted on a stretcher and carried out.
Straddie firefighter Michael Gresty said the exercise tested a multi-agency response on the island and had gone well.
“It was extremely positive,” he said.
“It was about seeing what capabilities each agency brought ... and further cementing those relationships.”
He said Queensland Police Service co-ordinated the search-and-rescues, which involved Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, the Rural Fire Service, Queensland Ambulance Service, State Emergency Service, Surf Life Saving Queensland and QYAC.
Mr Gresty said it was the first time surf life savers were involved in a multi-agency response on the island.
