COOCHIEMUDLO Island residents and visitors can enjoy an informal chat with police at the annual Flinders Day event on Sunday.

The Bayside District Crime Prevention Unit have invited anyone attending the event to join them for a cup while celebrating history coming alive.

Flinders Day attracts more than 700 residents who come together to celebrate the landing of Matthew Flinders on the island in 1799.

This Sunday Queensland Police will also be there for a casual chat.

As part of the island activities there will be market stalls, entertainers and the island landing re-enactment.

Police officers together with volunteers from Crime Stoppers and Volunteers in Policing will be available to chat about community or personal concerns over a free cuppa at the island’s Red Rock Cafe.

Coffee with a Cop will run from 9.30am to 11.30am.
