REDLANDS Rays Baseball Club has a new management committee, whose members are looking forward to the 2018-19 baseball season.
President Brad Hamson has been involved with Redlands Rays Baseball Club since 2011 when his son Kailen joined the Little League team.
Hamson has held positions of coach and junior co-ordinator and in 2017 was assistant coach for the Brisbane South Little League representative team.
Secretary Lee Brand came to the club in the 2013-14 season when his son Kaleb joined the Rookie Ball team.
He has coached Rookie Ball, Little League and Junior League teams and has been a coach and player for the Rays Pacific A-team and the Rays Masters team.
In the 2015-16 season, Brand took on the role of Rays coach co-ordinator and was head coach for the 2015 Little League Brisbane South representative team.
He has coached the under-18 Metropolitan East school baseball representative team for the past six years and was an assistant coach for the Queensland Sport School under-18 baseball team this year.
Treasurer Marrissa Landers played Little League for the Toowoomba Rangers in the late 1990s and liked the structure and discipline of baseball which develops athletic abilities and personalities while supporting equality between genders.
In the two years since becoming involved with the club when her son joined the Little League team, Landers has taken on the roles of team scorer and grants co-ordinator.
Baseball operations co-ordinator Stephen Schneider played for Redlands in the 1989-90 under-10 Navajo team when the club was called the Southside Indians and was affiliated with the current Indians Baseball Club.
After playing most of his junior career at Redlands, Schneider ventured to other clubs for three seasons before returning to Redlands.
He represented Brisbane South in his junior career, was a member of the Queensland team in 1995 and had three trips to the United States with the Queensland Taipans.
Schneider is a member of the Greater Brisbane League Committee.
He now plays in both the division 3 Rays teams and the masters team. Last season, he reached a milestone of 20 years of membership and 500 games for Redlands.
Club operations co-ordinator Dennis Fletcher is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds, clubhouse, dugouts and batting cages.
He became involved with Redlands Baseball Club in 1990 when he looked for the nearest baseball club to his home, after moving with his family to Alexandra Hills.
Fletcher is a life member and the longest serving active member at Redlands Baseball Club.
He has coached the teams his sons Scott and Gavin have been involved with, and has umpired regularly for other club teams.
Fletcher was also registrar for Brisbane South Baseball Association for five years.
