TANTALISING tastebud experiences from south-east Queensland – including the Redlands – are no longer hidden treasures with the launch of a food trail website.
SEQ Food Trails showcases restaurants and cafes, breweries and distilleries, events and street food.
The site – free for users and businesses – was launched at the Regional Flavours Festival at South Bank on Friday.
Hidden bars and microbreweries, gluten free, breakfast spots and dining spots make up the four Redlands food trails.
Mayor Karen Williams said people could create and share their own foodie trails from experiences on the site.
“We’ve come up with four Redlands Coast food trails to cater for all tastes and lifestyles, and feel confident they will inspire locals to try something new as well as attract visitors to our naturally wonderful coast,” Cr Williams said.
“Redlands Coast is perfectly placed to provide memorable foodie experiences, including locally grown and produced offerings, as food trail followers take their taste buds travelling through our picturesque coastal, hinterland and island areas.
“Redlands Coast is on Brisbane’s doorstep but the natural beauty here instantly transports people far from the everyday hustle and bustle, and our locals are friendly and welcoming.”

Coconut Coffee House owner Catherine Harmer said the website was a boost for tourism in the Redlands.
“It encourages people to venture to our beautiful area and enjoy gorgeous wines and food,” Ms Harmer said.
“It provides people with information to let them know what’s here if they want to come looking.”
Council of Mayors (SEQ) chairman Graham Quirk said south-east Queensland was emerging as a premier foodie destination through the diversity, quality and authenticity of the experiences it was able to offer residents and visitors.
“South-east Queensland has an abundance of stunning coastline, lush greenery, beautiful sunshine and some of the most fertile agricultural land in the world -- all within easy driving distance,” Cr Quirk said.
“The SEQ Food Trails package all of this up and makes it easy for people to explore our region.”
