Six life memberships were awarded at the Redland Sinfonia’s AGM on June 26.
Life memberships were given to Andrea Slater, Coralie Peterson, Rosina McDonnell-Tucker, Sue Willingham Marie Herzig and Marlene Belford by past conductors and existing life members Phillip Taylor and Phil Davis.
The awarding of Life Membership acknowledges the commitment that is made in a voluntary capacity to provide management and leadership of both the organisation and the players.
These members have been involved in various ways with the organisation over the years since the orchestra started in the late 1980s.
Ms McDonnell-Tucker for example is a founding member having been in the group of players that came together to form what was the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra Inc in 1986.
Sinfonia conductor Graeme Denniss said the awards recognised two types of people – those who play and those working in the background of the orchestra, to enable those performances.
“The awards reconise the long service and are a way of us appreciating the dedication over the years,” he said.
