A 23-YEAR-OLD man was sent to Brisbane Magistrate’s Court after allegedly driving a stolen car at speed from Carindale to Sheldon overnight.
He is also alleged to have dumped a quantity of methamphetamine from the car, which police later found.
A Queensland Police Services spokesperson said police had tried to stop the vehicle several times before it was intercepted on Monday morning at Avalon Road, Sheldon.
The car’s tyres had been shredded by the time it reached Avalon Road, with police then arresting the man without further incident, the spokesperson said.
The Carindale man was charged with two counts of evading police and of dangerous drugs possession.
He was also charged with dangerous driving, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving while unlicensed.
The spokesperson said police were called to a Milanion Crescent address about midnight on Sunday, with reports a stolen silver Audi Q7 had been found there.
“It will be alleged that on arrival officers noticed a man flee the property on foot before getting into the vehicle and accelerating at speed,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the driver sped over a tyre deflation device deployed at Scrub Road before travelling onto Christian Street and Wrecker Road.
The driver then drove through a red light onto Ham Road before colliding into an unmarked police car, which had activated its lights and sirens.
“Both front tyres and the rear left tyre were completely shredded before the stolen vehicle was stopped by police in Avalon Road at Sheldon,” the spokesperson said.
