COLOURFUL capes and masks were out to play with businesses and stall holders getting into the superhero spirit for the annual Crazy Day at Cleveland.
A crowd flocked to Bloomfield Street on Wednesday to enjoy the markets, businesses and live entertainment on the busy strip.
The event is organised by the Cleveland Village Traders Association and the Cleveland Markets and has taken place every year on Ekka Wednesday.
Crazy Day has become a popular fixture on the Redlands community calendar, drawing a crowd from near and far.
Co-organiser Chris Reid said the day was perfect for residents who wanted a relaxed public holiday.
“It’s a fun, family day out as an alternative to going to the Ekka,” he said.
“Holding the event every year on the public holiday is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy something more relaxed.
“People can do their grocery shopping today and come over to the markets, get together with friends or have a family day in our local area.”
Mr Reid said the event had been continuing for as long as he could remember with the thrill of having a different theme each year.
“This year our theme is superheroes so as people wander through the markets and businesses might see people dressed up or a find the theme in a small way in stalls,” he said.
Mr Reid said he expected thousands of people to be drawn to Cleveland for the event.
