SIRROMET Wines has become the first Queensland winery to join a national group of wine makers whose aim is to promote Australia as an international wine and food destination.
The Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia group includes major wine makers like Jacob’s Creek, De Bortoli, Brown Brothers, Yalumba, Seppeltsfield and some smaller makers.
The group’s aim is to offer quality winery experiences based on world class wines, knowledgeable hospitality and culinary excellence.
Sirromet general manger Rod Hill said joining the group was a fantastic opportunity to boost the brand’s range, most of which was grown on the Granite Belt in Queensland’s southern high country.
“The Granite Belt region is producing really high quality wine, while Sirromet’s location provides easy access to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast,” he said.
UWEA executive officer Kate Shilling said the thrust of her organisation was to offer quality restaurants, accommodation, tours and behind-the-scenes winery experiences.
This allowed visitors to interact with the product, the winemaker and enjoy the rich diversity of Australia’s many wine regions.
Ultimate winery experiences at Sirromet included a tutored premium wine tasting, five-course tasting plate lunch with matching wines and a 375ml bottle of dessert wine to take home at $204 per person.
The winery also offered an ultimate escape which was a $762 per person, two-night package including accommodation, breakfast, eight-course tasting plate dinner with matching wines, a guided winery tour, tutored premium wine tasting and two bottles of the award winning Le Sauvage wine to take home.
Sirromet's winery at Mount Cotton includes production, bottling, packaging facilities, barrel rooms, accommodation, cellar door, the Tuscan Terrace Cafe and Restaurant Lurleen.
