The Friends of Peel Island present Fantome the Movie to be screened at the Star of the Sea Catholic church, Passage Street, Cleveland at 3.30pm on Saturday, September 8.
The movie reveals the fate of aboriginal and islander leprosy patients who were transferred from Peel Island to Fantome Island in the Palm Island group north of Townsville in 1940. The movie will be introduced by Moreton Bay historian Peter Ludlow of Cleveland.
The presentation will be followed by a barbecue. Cost is $10 adults and $5 children. Payment can be made at the church office or at the door on the day.
