Island Vibe returns to Home Beach, Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island from October 25 to 28.
The festival is like a mini version of what we all hope the world would be, enticing people from all ages, walks of life and cultures to press the reset button, and be a part of this fresh, globally conscious and inclusive cultural event.
With the help of the local community, the festival creates an engaging environment and a community spirit conducive to participation, learning, sharing and greater connectivity.
The vision of the creators is to curate an exciting and interactive program of music, arts and culture. Held at the tail end of the whale migration season, this family-friendly, all-inclusive cultural event features an exciting and interactive program of music, arts and culture.
Its programing spans musical and cultural performances but also roving performances, cabaret, an art exhibition, interactive workshops, kids activities, talks, eco-food and craft markets.
The festivities kick off Thursday night with an opening party at the Chai ‘n’ Vibes tent, starting with a traditional Quandamooka smoking ceremony, followed by a night of dancing and live soul and funk music.
The festival works closely with the community and Indigenous Quandamooka elders to reflect the aspirations of the island.
Holding on to the belief that festivals are a catalyst for change and with the goal to raise awareness and educate the community with green practices, Island Vibe includes sustainability talks and workshops, and even a beach clean up into its program.
