Baroque music offers an opportunity for an afternoon of elegant conversations when Amalia Ensemble presents music from the baroque courts of Europe at Wellington Point at 3pm on October 14.
The afternoon is the second house concert to be staged by pianist Leanne Swanson and includes flautists Helen Lowe and Layla Majewski and cellist Alex Averi. At this concert, Ms Swanson will play the harpsichord.
Ms Swanson said the music evoked intimacy, refinement and sweetness.
“I go for walks in the Redlands every day and all I listen to is 18th century music. It gives you a sense of peace,” she said.
“An 18th Century trio sonata is the music of an elegant conversation, with the natural charm and sensitivity of its melodies and the classical beauty of its forms. This music delights the intellect and moves the heart.”
This and an earlier concert held at her home at 185 Main Road heralds the beginning of A Classical Point of View intimate house series, with seven concerts planned from December 2 until November 24.
Tickets are $40, inclusive of wine and cheese. Bookings for Elegant Conversations can be made on 0418 456 829.
