SANDY beaches, surf and sun are usually a relaxing mix but not for this group of fit Redlanders.
They count gruelling swims, cycles and runs as everyday fun.
The six – with two other Sharks Triathlon Club members – will represent Australia at the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final at Southport.
More than 5000 of the world’s best athletes and triathletes from 46 countries have entered the five-day competition, which launches Wednesday evening with a parade of nations and opening ceremony.

Sharks Triathlon Club president Richard Cahill said he was impressed the eight club members had qualified after travelling across Australia for events last season.
Luke Harvey will defend his world champion sprint title in the 16 to 19 years age group which he won in Rotterdam last year.
Also entered for the 750-metre swim, 20-kilometre bike and 5-kilometre run are Sharks triathletes Laura Cahill, Noel Devine, Bridget Copland, Sue Robba and Linda Meredith.
Teenagers Declan Weir and Adam Lee will punish themselves across double the distance, with both entered into the standard 1.5-kilometre swim, 40-kilometre bike ride and 10-kilometre run.
Mr Cahill said anyone interested in training for a triathlon could watch local events and sign up with the club.
“You don’t have to be the fittest person on earth and I think that gives people confidence,” he said.
“We really encourage people to join.”
Elite para-triathlon and junior mixed team relay and age group events are included in this year’s 2018 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final.
