Folk musician Phil Drane performs for Folk Redlands at Indigiscapes, Runnymede Road, Capalaba from 2pm to 4pm on September 16.
His performance includes a one-hour workshop covering his song-writing techniques and including demonstrating the creation of a song through guitar and vocal arrangement, ready for presentation.
Drane’s performances feature unique arrangements of contemporary and traditional songs, expressive vocals, and skilful guitar work woven with a generous dose of north English banter.
His ability to infuse English and New Zealand folk-roots songs with blues, jazz and other musical influences creates a musical potpourri that appeals to most audiences.
His own compositions range from the moving Song For Jackie (that has become something of a north-east England coal-mining anthem) to the frivolous and funny such as Don’t Blame Me and Lactose Intolerance Blues.
Drane has released seven albums, and toured extensively throughout the UK and Ireland.
The Folk Redlands event begins with a blackboard session from 1pm to 2pm. A PA is provided.
Entry is free.
