ALEXANDRA Hills State High School student Khloe Lugton will represent Australia at a world sport aerobics championships in the Netherlands next month.
The 14-year-old from Capalaba qualified at the 2018 FISAF National Championships for Sport Aerobics.
She will compete in an individual event, and with team-mates Isabella Van Wijk from the Gold Coast and Charli Clarke, of West End.
The three train at Capalaba-based Industrie 1 Studios.
Having joined Industrie 1 in 2012, Khloe trains 12 hours a week.
It will be the third time she has competed in the FISAF World Championships.
The first was in Vienna in 2016, when she was 12.
She placed eighth as an individual and fourth in the trio team in her age group.
Last year she competed in the Netherlands, placing sixth.
Charli is also competing in the world event for the third time, while it is a first for Isabella.
In their first year as a team, the trio have won gold at every event in which they competed.
Events were in Melbourne, Coffs Harbour, Newcastle and Brisbane.
They won their place on the Australian team after winning gold at the FISAF National Championships in August.
Industrie 1 head coach Penny McKinlay said this would be the 11th year she had taken athletes to the world championships.
“I am very proud of the girls,” Ms McKinlay said.
“They have moved up an age group this year so they are the youngest in their category.
“They have been doing sports aerobics for a few years and work hard at training, fitness, strength, flexibility, skills and choreography.”
Ms McKinlay and coach Lucy Goddard will travel with the athletes.
Industrie 1 athletes won 38 medals, including 17 golds, at the national championships in August.
