EARLY intervention and preventing depression, anxiety and bullying will be the focus of a workshop at Redland Community Centre in October.
The course will be run by parent educator and early intervention consultant Luise Pearson-Bernoth.
Ms Pearson-Bernoth said her focus was on preventing children’s problems that were caused by things like bullying, anxiety and depression.
”My program includes resilience through self-acceptance skills training which was designed by social worker and counsellor Sabine Beecher,” Ms Pearson-Bernoth said.
“It also includes tapping from the evidence-based course Tapping in the Classroom designed by Dr Peta Stapleton, a psychologist and senior lecturer at Bond University.
“There is information from naturopath and nutritionist Michelle Bevan on dietary aspects for children's health.”
Ms Pearson-Bernoth said the workshop provided a holistic approach that covered mental, emotional, social, physical and spiritual aspects of a person.
“We will practice the skills taught,” she said.
“It is my intention to prevent mental health issues before they can take hold.”
The course costs $88 which includes two books and two sets of notes.
It is suitable for parents, carers, teachers and interested teenagers.
It will be on Saturday, October 20 from 9.30am to 3pm at Redland Community Centre, 29 Loraine Street, Capalaba.
