FAIRFAX Media’s landmark 5.19 hectare property at Ormiston is up for sale.
It comes after the announcement in July that the company, which publishes Redland City Bulletin, would close the Ormiston print site.
Ray White Commercial Bayside director Nathan Moore said the property on the corner of Delancey Street and Finucane Road marked the entrance to Cleveland.
“It is located in a highly visible corner position with exposure to more than 40,000 passing vehicles each day,” Mr Moore said.
“The site is about two kilometres from Cleveland CBD and close to other major shopping, transport, health, education and recreation facilities.
“Development options – subject to council approval – include retail, commercial, residential, retirement and aged care.”
About 5100 square metres of commercial and industrial buildings are on the property.
Mr Moore said the block was zoned open space and commercial industry.
“It is proposed to be zoned as low impact industry and recreational open space under the Redland City Plan 2015, which is due to take effect from October 8,” Mr Moore said.
In July Fairfax Media chief executive officer Greg Hywood announced an agreement with News Corp Australia that has seen printing services for Fairfax in Queensland provided by News Corp.
Fairfax is printing publications for News Corp at its North Richmond site in NSW since the agreement.
About 75 Fairfax Media employees are expected to relocate to premises at Cleveland later this year.
The print site closure has affected about 50 people.
Expressions of interest for the 58-68 Delancey Street property are due by October 18.
