An Adelaide man who posted videos online in which he encouraged attacks on Jewish people has been found not guilty of terror-related offences because of mental impairment.
The man, who cannot be named, appeared in the South Australian District Court on Monday after pleading not guilty to four counts of advocating terrorism online in 2015 and 2016.
A jury agreed he had advocated terrorism in videos posted to his Facebook page, but found the man not guilty because experts agreed he was suffering from mental illness at the time.
The charges related to four videos in which the man called for attacks on Jewish people, Israeli soldiers and members of the Palestinian National Authority.
Commonwealth prosecutor Anne Barnett said one video has been viewed more than 19,000 times and, in another, the man could be seen holding a large knife to his throat.
In facts agreed upon by the prosecution and the defence, the jury was told police first became aware of the videos in November 2015.
The AFP conducted an investigation and items including electronic devices, carving knives, a tomahawk and a chainsaw were seized from the man's western suburbs home.
The videos were played in court and the jury provided with translations before Ms Barnett and defence counsel Edward Jolly said two forensic psychiatrists had reached the same conclusion on the man's mental state.
"At the time of all four of the charges (the defendant) was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, and he was psychotic at the time of all four of those offences," Mr Jolly said.
The man will reappear before the court later this week to consider a further psychiatric report.
