THEY may have turned up in pink tutus, wigs and sequins, but the cause adopted by these generous Coochiemudlo Island residents and visitors was serious.
Helping women diagnosed with breast cancer get support.
The group of about 60 people raised more than $1500 for the McGrath Foundation through a golf day fundraiser at the Isle of Coochie Golf Club on Saturday, October 6.

The effort was all part of the McGrath Foundation’s Pink Up Your Town campaign for small towns to raise money for the cause.
Event co-ordinator Debi Sayer said she was thrilled with the result, saying the island’s Pink Up Your Town fundraising goal for October was almost achieved.
“I first thought, if I could make it to $2000, then I would be very, very happy,” she said.
The money will be used by the McGrath Foundation to provide nurses for free to patients with breast cancer, helping them and their families from diagnoses and throughout treatment.
Ms Sayer said two more Pink Up Your Town fundraising events would be hosted at the island to raise money for the cause.
She said shoppers could visit 252 Victoria Parade this Saturday, October 13 from 7am to grab a bargain.
Items, including second hand clothes, fishing gear, kids’ toys, food containers and more, will be sold for gold coin donations.
Games of cricket will also be hosted at island’s sporting oval the week following on Saturday, October 27, with a men’s match in the morning from 9am and a women’s game in the afternoon.
The cost is $10 per person to play, with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea to be served and raffles to be drawn.
Ms Sayer said she became involved with the Pink Up Your Town initiative after her daughter Lee - a McGrath Foundation Corporate Partnership Manager – told her about it.
“I am looking at the next year's fundraising events already,” Ms Sayer said.
