Island Vibe Festival is teaming up with Josh Walker and Paddy Coolwell of the Quandamooka community to find guitars, drums, keyboards, percussion and sound equipment to equip a youth accessible space on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
The Musical Youth Program aims to provide opportunities for youth to explore their creative side through improvised jamming and we are looking to expand the project to include tuition workshops in the future.
“The availability of creative tools to youth is invaluable. We might unearth the next Jimi Hendrix or Dan Sultan right here on Minjerribah,” Walker said.
Anyone with instruments can Paddy on 0400 755 737 or Maria on 0434 057 528 or email info@islandvibe.com.au In Brisbane, Northern Rivers and the Sunshine Coast area phone Morgyn on 0432 986 748.
Island Vibe comes to Home Beach, Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island from October 25 to 28.
With the help of the local community, the festival creates an engaging environment and a community spirit conducive to participation, learning, sharing and greater connectivity. Tickets are available through events.ticketbooth.com.au/event/island-vibe-2018. More on islandvibe.com.au
