Queensland's Labor government has used its numbers in the parliament to prevent a committee being set up to investigate the premier.
Annastacia Palaszczuk has been referred to the ethics committee after the state's corruption watchdog found she had technically broken the law by stripping resources from minor party Katter's Australia Party.
LNP Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington on Wednesday tried to move a motion to establish a special committee to investigate the premier, but the government prevented the motion from being introduced.
Ms Palaszczuk removed discretionary funding to the party after its three state MPs refused to denounce federal Senator Fraser Anning for using the Nazi-associated phrase "final solution" during his first speech in federal parliament.
As a result Ms Palaszczuk was referred to the Crime and Corruption Commission by KAP Queensland Leader Robbie Katter.
The watchdog found the premier had technically breached the criminal code by using the funding as leverage to influence the minor party, however it left it up to parliament to decide how to proceed.
Late last week Labor speaker Curtis Pitt referred the premier to the powerful ethics committee.
Ms Palaszczuk has rejected calls for her to stand aside while that investigation takes place, saying she's not the first premier to be referred to the ethics committee.
"Just go back through the history, I'm sure there's plenty. I'm probably in good company," she said on Sunday.
Ms Palaszczuk has been referred to the ethics committee a handful of times when she was opposition leader, while former premiers including Campbell Newman, Peter Beattie and Anna Bligh were all also referred at various times.
