VICTORIA Point Seniors will sizzle sausages at Victoria Point on Fridays to raise money for the DANII Foundation which helps people with type 1 diabetes.
President Frank Mead said the organisation would be outside Woolworths in the Victoria Point Shopping Centre from 9am to 2pm.
Mr Mead said he was humbled by the generosity of Woolworths through their donation of sausages, bread, sauces, onions and napkins.
The DANII Foundation was formed in 2012 after the death from nocturnal hypoglycaemia – or dead in bed syndrome – of type 1 diabetic Daniella Meads Barlow at the age of 17.
DANII aims to prevent DIBS and improve the safety and quality of life of people with type 1 diabetes.
The organisation has started a campaign to make life-saving remote alert technology for type 1 diabetics affordable.
It also aims to reduce unnecessary complications and complex morbidity associated with poorly managed type 1 diabetes.
Victoria Point Seniors patron deputy mayor Lance Hewlett said he admired how dedicated and passionate the Victoria Point Seniors were.
“I commend them for shining a light on such an important foundation while also contributing funds towards providing life saving diabetes alert technology,” Cr Hewlett said.
“Frank and his team would love to see you drop by for a quick and cheap lunch all while supporting a great cause.”
