BEAT the hand not the arm, breathe and become one with the table...that’s the advice from businessman Steve Minter on how to win an arm wrestling match.
On Friday November 9, the Capalaba Battery World owner is hosting an arm wrestle challenge in aid of the charity Soldier On.
Soldier On provides support and assistance to service personnel and families across the Australian defence forces, and aims to ensure those impacted by their service are given help.
On November 9, Mr Minter wants people to visit his store and arm wrestle against him or his staff for a gold coin donation.
Battery World staff will then take a photo and upload to the record site, with Battery World stores around Australia taking part.
Mr Minter said he hoped the event will set a record for the biggest arm wrestling challenge of its kind.
Soldier On’s national fundraising director Barry Kenyon said supporting the arm wrestle was a great way to say thank you to returning veterans.
“What makes this special is Soldier On is about keeping defence families together by being stronger together as a community,” Mr Kenyon said.
“The arm wrestle challenge is called ‘Stronger Together’ because families of service personnel can experience significant stress, so supporting the entire family is integral to the wellbeing of all concerned.”
“Every two years all the Battery World stores throw our support behind a new charity,” Mr Minter said.
“The work Soldier On does and has been doing for many years is immeasurable.
“It’s all about inclusion so no one has to feel alone or isolated.
“This is a great way a selfie can really benefit the community.”
