TWO men are set to front Cleveland Magistrates Court after they were both caught driving without a licence at Russell Island.
Sergeant Tim McKinney said the two men – aged 40 and 43 – were caught on Tuesday, October 9 by Capalaba Road Policing Unit officers, who were sent to the island for traffic enforcement.
He said other motorists on the island were nabbed for offences including driving unregistered and uninsured, speeding and driving defective vehicles, with several infringement notices issued.
The two men caught driving unlicensed will appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday, November 5.
Burglary
AN unknown person entered a Canaipa Point Drive home overnight on Monday, October 1 but fled after being disturbed by an occupant.
Break and enter
A ROVER chainsaw and Scorpion generator were taken from a Centre Road home after an early morning break-in on Tuesday, October 23.
Car steal
A WHITE Toyota Hilux was stolen from the island’s ferry car park on Sunday, October 14. The car was found the next day along Fern Terrace.
Boat steal
A SMALL boat was pinched from a Cooke Avenue yard between Friday, October 19 and Friday, October 26.
Police officer assault
A 40-YEAR-OLD male will appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on November 20 after he was charged with serious assault of a police officer.
The alleged assault happened on Sunday, October 7.
Shop disturbance
TWO Russell Island women, aged 28 and 37, were fined for their alleged involvement in a disturbance at a High Street shopping centre on Saturday, October 6.
Police said the women were given infringement notices for public nuisance on Tuesday, October 23, with investigations into the disturbance continued.
Domestic violence
SERGEANT McKinney said Russell Island police were called to three domestic violence incidents during October.
