Coochiemudlo Island

A HANDBAG containing $800 and cigarettes were stolen from a room at the Coochie Island Beach Resort sometime overnight on Friday, November 2.

The owner told police they had woken up about 5am the next day to find the glass sliding door open, despite it being locked throughout the night.

The handbag was found discarded near the hotel’s car park, with the money missing.

Macleay Island

Plate theft

A number plate was pinched from a motorbike parked at George Street sometime between October 13 and October 27.

Thefts

A flag promoting Carpet Bright was stolen from a High Central Road address sometime between September 29 and October 1.

A green Victa push mower was taken from a Squire Street address sometime between Friday, October 26 and Wednesday, October 31.

Stealing charge

A 35-year-old Macleay Island man will appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on November 13 after he was charged with stealing from a licensed premise.

Domestic violence

Macleay Island police were called to seven domestic violence incidents and one domestic violence order breach in October.

Traffic offences

A 31-year-old Macleay Island man will appear before Cleveland Magistrates Court on November 13 after he was charged for unlicensed driving and driving an unregistered vehicle.

A 58-year-old Macleay Island man will appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on November 19 for drink driving.

Two men – a 58-year-old and 64-year-old – were caught by police driving unregistered and uninsured vehicles on October 30.

Thornlands

Burglary

Police received reports of a burglary, which happened at an Eprapah Road home sometime between 7pm and 8.30pm on November 3.

Police said the home’s occupant noticed wet footprints inside the home before contacting police. No property was taken.
