CAPALABA custom home builders Munro Designed Homes have taken out two top prizes in the Housing Industry Association Queensland Housing awards.
The awards, held by Australia’s peak industry body for residential construction, renovation and development, recognise the achievements of the housing industry in the design, construction, innovation and housing technology.
Galleon, a Wellington Point home, won the award for custom homes priced between $500,001 and $750,000.
At just over 400 metres squared, the high-set house has an open-plan design, and combines modern design features with those of a traditional Queenslander.
“Galleon is where beauty and practicality collide,” designers said.
“Unique solutions were used to counteract the ecological effects of the western sun and the engineering challenge of building over infrastructure services.”
Belmont house Liberty 32 was awarded the top prize for custom homes between $300,001 - $500,000.
Set on a small block, designers said the home has a contemporary Hamptons-style facade and will “grow” with the family.
Munro Designed Homes was also a finalist in the category for custom homes under $300,000 for its Cleveland home, Genesis.
Company director Chris Munro said the awards were a demonstration of the team’s hard work.
“These awards are a validation of our hard work and dedication to the building industry,” he said.
“Our passion to produce a quality custom home is what makes us continue to do this everyday.
“We are so grateful to our clients for putting their trust in us to create their family homes.”
