Wellington Point soprano Rosemarie Arthars joins pianist Leanne Swanson, violinist Camille Barry and mezzo soprano Kathryn Bradbury for an afternoon of Art in Song at Ms Swanson’s Wellington Point home, 185 Main Road at 3pm on December 2.
The concert is part of a home concert series which is gaining popularity with an audience who like to mix and connect with the performers on an intimate level.
The shows have brought Ms Arthars out of retirement and working on building vocal stamina.
“I love this. I love the atmosphere. These concerts bring people and friends who love music and it is nice to see this in their faces when you are performing. It is a lovely time,” Ms Arthars said.
Ms Arthars said an intimate home concert was the place where early music started.
“This has a salon feel to it. It’s a brand new experience, yet it’s so old. It is thanks to our generous hosts that we are able to have this. That’s the secret to it. Things have just lined up,” she said.
The concert comprises works from Benjamin Britten, Elgar, Gluck and Schumann with Ms Barry to play Meditation from Thais by Massenet and the girls to perform popular duets Barcarolle andLakme’s Flower duet.
“It is all such lovely music. It will really work well,” Ms Swanson said.
Tickets to the concert are $40 inclusive of wine and nibblies and can be booked on 0418 456 829.
