CLEVELAND’S Star Sea Quilters are celebrating the end of a busy year of festivals, displays and quilting retreats.
In 2018, the group made 40 quilts for local charities, as well as 120 placemats for Meals on Wheels recipients.
“I think that a major achievement was being able to complete and donate so many quilts to our local charities,” group member Anne Holley said.
They also travelled to Toowoomba during the Carnival of Flowers and the annual quilt show.
The group followed the Quilts, Stitches and Textiles trail, which showcased quilting, embroidery, spinning, weaving and felting on the common theme of Spring.
The group's annual retreat was held in Maleny at the Tranquil Park Resort, where members spent their time quilting overlooking the Glass House Mountains.
"It was a great four days with numerous workshops, a Christmas in July dinner and many personal projects completed by the participants," Ms Holley said.
Their year will end with an annual Christmas lunch the first week in December, and members will then look forward to getting back together in January.
"Next year our group hopes to have visits from outside tutors to learn new skills and we always enjoy being able to purchase different fabrics for new projects," Ms Holley said.
"We also hope that we can encourage new members to come and enjoy our group and bring fresh ideas and new skills."
The Star Sea Quilters meet once a week at the Star of the Sea church hall, Cleveland.
