A GROUP of Redlands real estate agents has teamed up with an Alexandra Hills grocer to deliver Christmas care packs to the homeless.
Deodorant, shampoo and toothpaste were just some of the items put into each of the 100 bags donated to charity Night Ninjas today.
The packs will be given out to Redlands’ homeless by Night Ninjas at Christmas.
The project was spearheaded by Remax Bayside Properties business development manager Wade Trask, who wanted to help people struggling in the area.
Teaming up with Alexandra Hills IGA X-press owner Dan Rigney, the pair quickly worked out what was needed.
Soap and toilet paper were put onto the list, with chocolates and Christmas messages from Hilliard State School students also added.
“As locals ourselves, all the team at Remax Bayside just want to help as many people as possible in our community, especially those people that are doing it a bit tough,” Mr Trask said.
“Every little bit helps and it doesn’t get any better than locals teaming up with locals to hep locals.”
School principal Andrew Walker delivered a bundle of Christmas cards to the store today, with more still to be added to packs.
About 400 people are estimated to be homeless in the bayside area, with Night Ninjas set up in 2015 to distribute food, soap, clothing and other items to people in need.
Mr Rigney - who is the face of IGA's Great Aussie Local campaign - said he was proud to help.
“At IGA, we are passionate about serving the local community and giving back and we hope that these care packs help to bring cheer to what can be an even more difficult time of year for many people,” he said.
The project was also sponsored by realestate.com.au.
Realestate.com.au spokeswoman Christina Demitriou said she thought it was great to see businesses helping the community.
