A senior Dreamworld staffer has admitted it should have been "obvious" to staff manning the Thunder River Rapids ride on the day four people were killed at the Gold Coast theme park that something was wrong.
Appearing as an inquest witness on Friday, business implementation officer Nichola Horton, who had previously worked as an attractions supervisor said the ride clearly "sounded different" when a pump failed.
"You should have been able to tell that the pumps had failed," she said.
Ms Horton, who started at the park as a ride attendant at the Thunder River attraction, said even low-level deckhands knew how to shut down the ride.
"I have operated the ride for many years and completed a number of shutdowns and I have never had an issue. I have always found it a pretty simple process," she said.
Ms Horton said that she had "never seen anyone" have an issue with the shutdown procedure.
"It has never been an issue."
The failure of the two ride attendants to stop the ride on the day of the tragedy - and what level of training they received - has been a major component of the inquest.
The inquest has been told that the ride control panel was confusing, but engineers could not convert it to a single button shutdown because the ride was too old.
Also giving evidence on Friday was engineer David Flatman, whose workplace health and safety report into the fatal ride identified major faults.
These included missing slats from the conveyor, excess corrosion, crumbling concrete and unidentified controls.
The report found the ride was "unsafe" and there had been "little learning" from previous incidents.
Cindy Low, Kate Goodchild, her brother Luke Dorsett and his partner Roozi Araghi died after a water pump malfunctioned, resulting in two rafts colliding and flipping in October 2016.
The inquest will continue Monday.
