A CENTRE to help young veterans relax and engage with society will open at Capalaba on Saturday, December 8.
The facility has been set up by the Young Veterans organisation, which was started in Victoria in 2012.
The centre is at the premises of Boss Customs body shop on Redland Bay Road where veterans can help with vehicle restorations, engine conversions and body work.
Young Veterans Redlands president and founding member Adrian Aiple said the centre would help connect Australian veterans with their community through activities.
“This centre provides a space where all veterans can relax and take part in vehicle restoration activities,” Mr Aiple said.
“I encourage all veterans and their families to attend the grand opening.”
Cr Paul Golle, himself a veteran, has provided support to the organisation, along with Redlands RSL Sub-Branch, The Cage and the Military Brotherhood Motorcycle Club.
“This support allows veterans to think outside the system and re-engage with civilian society by participating in positive events that challenge and rehabilitate,” Cr Golle said.
The centre opening will be on Saturday, December 8 at 3pm at 539 Redland Bay Road, Capalaba.
