AN ADVOCACY group wants to hear from NDIS beneficiaries about issues relating to transport funding.
The Transport Development and Solutions Alliance wants to hear about people’s experiences relating to a person’s NDIS transport-related funding being included in their plan and the inequitable planning process relating to a person’s need for transport funding.
TDSA business manager Jennifer Leigh said a meeting would be held in the Bowman electorate on Thursday, December 6 from 10am.
The alliance was holding forums in various Queensland electorates in the lead up to the federal election.
“TDSA wants dissatisfied people to let us know what their issues are and to share knowledge about your rights under the NDIS and what you can do in an attempt to address any insufficient transport funding for an NDIS-eligible person’s agreed life goals and activities,” said Ms Leigh said.
“Over the past 18 months TDSA has raised known fundamental flaws with the NDIS Senate Committee, all Australian federal politicians and all Queensland state politicians.
“To date this work seems to have fallen on deaf ears, and with the federal election looming and Queensland being the location of 10 swinging seats the time is right.
“It’s time for NDIS participants and their families, via TDSA, to be part of building a collective voice about dissatisfaction on this aspect of the NDIS.
Ms Leigh said attendees could be anonymous.
“All we want to know are your issues and postcode,” Ms Leigh said.
“The ability to develop a collective voice in relation to dissatisfaction is a systemic flaw to any program that funds on an individual basis because in essence the funding program is able to effectively lead a person raising any issues to think they are the only ones.”
The forum on December 6 at 10am will last about two hours.
It will be at STAR Community Transport, Training Room, 15/152-166 Shore Street, Cleveland.
