Vic Kena will host a ukulele workshop and jam session at Binary Music, Cleveland from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, December 15.
The event will finish with a concert with repertoire to include Bohemian Rhapsody, Sultans of Swing, Hotel California and The Devil Came Down to Georgia and featuring guest Angela Toohey.
A professional musician of 30 years, Mr Kena is the first artist in Australia and New Zealand to join Kanile’a Ukelele from Hawaii as an endorsed sponsored ukulele artist. Mr Kena has performed on guitar with Keith Urban, and is the heart of the seven-piece Australian Ukulele Show. He routinely performs around Brisbane as Wild Card Trio and The Kenas and in a number of tribute shows.
Binary Music’s Karen Henderson said she had recently returned from a cruise with 80 ukulele players from Brisbane and Sunshine Coast clubs and the popularity of the instrument was evident.
“We are really excited to be able to present this event in our studio for the people of the Redlands coast, as we know it will be enjoyed by everyone,” she said.
Tickets are $30 adults and free to students under 12 years. They are available at Binary Music Cleveland and TryBooking. Attendees are encouraged to bring their ukuleles.
