As many Melbourne residents are dealing with the aftermath of the heavy deluge early Friday evening, another severe thunderstorm is expected to hit the Melbourne area.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for eastern suburbs Doncaster, Lilydale and Ringwood by 10:30pm and Caulfield, Glen Waverley and the CBD by 11pm.
Flash floods sprung up across the city earlier Friday evening with commuters seen wading through train stations and people having to climb out of half-submerged cars.
The weather bureau said 21mm of rain fell in just 10 minutes.
Between 5pm and 10pm, the SES received 534 calls for assistance across the state, 270 of which were flooding related.
Another 196 callouts were for building damage.
The worst hit suburbs were Richmond in the city's inner east and Darley - a suburb of Bacchus Marsh west of Melbourne.
An SES spokesperson said the volunteer organisation was doing its best to prioritise callouts and help everyone in need.
People needing storm assistance are urged to call the SES on 132 000 or for life threatening emergencies, call triple zero.
