THE Pathak family have a lot to be grateful for this new year after welcoming their baby daughter in the early hours of January 1.
Myra Paavni Pathak was born at 3:40 am on Tuesday at Redland Hospital, weighing 2.76 kilograms and measuring 51 centimetres.
Her name, according to mother Madhu Bala, means beautiful.
Alexandra Hills resident Ms Bala said she was grateful for a New Year’s baby, despite expecting Myra to arrive on Boxing Day.
“It was awesome, the best gift ever,” she said.
“I visited my doctor at 40 weeks, and was told they would give it another week before inducing me.
“Luckily, she decided to arrive on January 1.”
The first child of Ms Bala and husband Neil Pathak, Myra’s arrival was eagerly anticipated.
Ms Bala was surrounded by family during the birth, with Mr Pathak and Ms Bala’s mother and mother in-law there to be the first to welcome Myra.
Myra was one of three babies born at the Redland Hospital on New Year’s Day.
